The 2025 Ferrari Purosangue is Ferrari’s most controversial production car—and perhaps its most strategically important. Maranello spent decades insisting it would never build an SUV, then quietly produced something even more disruptive: not a utility vehicle in the conventional sense, but a four-door, four-seat Ferrari with raised stance and all-wheel drive.
That distinction matters. Ferrari engineered the Purosangue not as an adaptation of an existing platform, but as a Ferrari-first architecture designed to preserve the brand’s front-mid-engine proportions and sports-car balance. It arrives less as a concession to market demand and more as Ferrari’s declaration that practicality no longer needs to mean dilution.
Among enthusiasts, the reception has been split—some criticize the styling, others defend it almost entirely because Ferrari kept the naturally aspirated V12 alive. The recurring sentiment across owner circles is simple: “the one with a V12.”
This is where the Purosangue separates itself from every other ultra-luxury performance SUV. Ferrari ignored the industry’s turbocharged V8 trend and installed a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing 715 horsepower and 528 lb-ft of torque, paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system.
