The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 4×4² represents one of the most extreme off-road interpretations of the legendary G-Class from Mercedes-Benz. The G-Class first appeared in 1979 as a military-grade utility vehicle designed to handle the harshest environments. Over time, it evolved into a global icon of luxury, durability, and prestige.

To push the platform even further, the engineers at Mercedes-AMG developed the 4×4² concept. Inspired by the extreme G500 4×4², this high-performance variant combines AMG power with serious off-road engineering. The result is a luxury SUV that merges supercar-level performance with extraordinary terrain capability.

Performance & Engineering

At the heart of the G63 AMG 4×4² sits a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing approximately 585 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. This powerful engine delivers explosive acceleration despite the vehicle’s massive off-road setup.

Power is delivered through a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic transmission and the intelligent 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in about 4.5 seconds, which is remarkable for a vehicle designed to conquer extreme terrain.

One of the defining engineering features is the portal axle system, which dramatically increases ground clearance and improves off-road capability. This setup allows the G63 4×4² to tackle obstacles that would challenge most other SUVs.
